We often wander the quieter end of the Esplanade to The Spotted Goat — our absolute favourite for coffee or brekkie. It's an easy 400m, 5 min walk, with consistently excellent coffee and fresh, thoughtful food.

If you're heading toward the Pier, Salt Café is a great pick for coffee with ocean views (2 min drive or a brisk 15 min walk).

For a no-fuss start, RJ's Beach Café near the Pier serves casual fish & chips and easy takeaway — great if you want breakfast right on the sand.

For something sweet, Miss Macaron is a beautifully styled café moments from Urangan Pier, serving specialty coffee and handcrafted Italian macarons from 6:30am — an easy ~10-minute walk from Vila Paus and perfect for early risers heading out for a sunrise stroll.

Dinner

For dinner close to the villa, Bayswater Bar & Grill is a sunset favourite (3 min drive), while the Boat Club brings classic Hervey Bay marina vibes and seafood with water views.

Along the harbour you'll also find Marina Balena, Truly Asia, Harbourview, and The Dock (at Mantra) — all great for an easy night out by the water.

Nightlife

Operation Underground Coffee is a laid-back Torquay favourite serving excellent specialty coffee — perfect for a smooth start before a day on the beach (3 min drive). Along the waterfront, Bayaroma and Aquavue Café reliably deliver great coffee with a salty breeze (4 min drive).

Dinner

Torquay shines at dinnertime. Barrel n Vine is our pick for cosy Italian and local seafood (9 min walk). Santini's adds lively Italian flair, while Olive is warm and generous with Turkish classics.

If you're after a casual feast, Badger & Browns Burgerie, Paolo's Pizza, and Tres Salsas all hit the spot. For something refined, Banksia and Tanoshi offer beautiful dining in relaxed settings.

For fine French dining, Aegean Waters is a standout — elegant, homely and memorable. For dessert, Planet 72 Ice Cream is a long-time local favourite — we pop in more often than we admit.

Scarness is a great pocket to start the day. Enzo's on the Beach is perfect for barefoot coffee right on the sand — relaxed, salty and slow. For something fun and lighthearted, 50's Diner brings retro vibes.

Dinner

Enzo's on the Beach is a relaxed beachfront favourite offering wood-fired share plates, modern Aussie dishes, and sunset cocktails overlooking the water. There's plenty more to enjoy here — La Bella is fresh and comforting, Tasty Thai is perfect when you're craving big flavour, and the Beach House Hotel serves generous pub classics.

Nightlife

Scarness has one of our favourite after-dark options — Bar Soma. The cocktails are excellent, the room is warm and welcoming, and it's just a great all-round place to end the night. The Beach House is also good for a casual pint and people-watching.

After an evening out, it's just a short drive back to your Urangan beachfront holiday accommodation for a quiet night by the sea.
